"Bringing Liberians around the world together!"
Time in Liberia
BACKGROUND

Theophilus Monday Befford is a Liberian and a former auto mechainic helper who use to work in the Houston area.  Due to a
stomach aneurysm, Theophilus suffered blood clot in his right & later his left leg .  As a result of this, both his legs were
amputated, thus leaving Theo to be an  INDEGENT/DOUBLE AMPUTEE!

Prior to his unfortunate incident, Theo did not have Insurance.  As faith would have it, the Rehab center kept him for 8 months.
The center tried getting him on some form of insurance, but all efforts were futile.  Finally, the center had no choice but to
transfer him  to a shelter.

Hawa Fahnbulleh being his nurse at the rehab center alerted the Liberian community through Mr Charles Wolo whom, in turn,
contacted Mr Cephas Acolatse.  Hawa asked that the Liberian community be engaged.  Cephas & Tenikay Sayeh visited him on
February 23, 2010 while he was still in rehab.  Based on their discussion with the Rehab center & the facts surrounding Theo's
situation, they were left with little choice, but to strategize on how the community could get involve.

PERSUIT OF HAPINESS

On February  28, he was released from Rehab to the Salvation army shelter.  Hawa took him there, but was overwhelmed by the
conditions & regulations at the shelter; this brought her to tears knowing Theophilus medical condition.  He was given a space for
the night but had to fend for himself during the day until 4pm. He was then required to join the line to see if he could get a space
for a nights’ sleep at $10.00 a night.  This was a man without any monetary means.  Hawa suggested taking Theophilus in, but
because of the layout of her home (all bedroom & bath upstairs), Theophilus was stuck.
Hawa then called Tenikay Sayeh to update him on the situation at the Salvation army.  It was then that Tenikay consulted with
Cephas on the information gathered from Hawa.  He informed Cephas that his heart did not lead him to leave this man (our
country man) in such a condition.  On Sunday, February 28 @ 10:30pm Tenikay visited the shelter & brought back Theophilus
Monday Befford to live temporarily at his residence.
